Global Solidarity: A Conversation with BLM Brasil
We at Collective Notes had the opportunity to interview three brilliant political activists and organizers based in Manaus, Brazil: Carol Amaral, Michelle Andrews, and Mãe Nonata. We discussed their lifelong work for racial justice in Brazil and the common, shared struggle between our two countries. We also briefly dive into the handling of COVID in Brazil and both countries’ leaders management of the pandemic.
Carol Amaral is a BLM Brasil and social justice activist, lawyer, and DJ (you can follow Carol on Instagram at @Carolizitah and check out her Soundcloud at souncloud.com/carol-amaral-4).
Michelle Andrews is a BLM Brasil activists and political contender for the city council of Manaus, Brazil.
Mãe Nonata is a lifelong black rights activist based in Manaus, Brazil and an active and lifelong member of The Workers' Party (Partido dos Trabalhadores, PT).
We are deeply grateful to Carol, Michelle, and Mãe Nonata for taking the time to speak with us. We hope you enjoy and please share this video with friends and family!
